NOTICE
OF SENIOR NUTRITION SERVICES, REGION IV, INC. PRIVACY PRACTICES
In order to comply with new federal
regulations to insure privacy of health information, we are required to
advise you of the policies Senior Nutrition Services, Region IV, Inc.
has in place. The recent changes are referred to as HIPAA (Health
Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.) This policy will
remain in effect until modified or revised, and if this occurs, you will
receive an update.
The new regulations, effective April 14,
2003, require health care agencies to establish a privacy policy, train
employees in the procedures, and limit information access to only those
who need it to carry out treatment, payment, and health care
operations. At Senior Nutrition Services, Region IV, Inc., this
will include care managers, administrative, eligibility, data entry, and
billing staff. When we contract with individual professionals or
agencies, they must abide by the same regulations, as do site managers,
meal delivery drivers and volunteers.
