VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
It is only through the dedicated service of our volunteers that we are able to meet the needs of so many seniors in our area.  There are many volunteer positions available in which we could use your service.

HOME DELIVERED MEALS VOLUNTEER
Is a person or persons that donate his or her time to deliver meals to the homebound clients in the tri-county area.

The requirements for this position are

  1. A sense of commitment to the senior population
  2. Have a vehicle in good running condition and able to hold coolers which contain the clients meals.

The volunteer picks up the meals at the site and receives a route sheet from the site manager. This sheet contains all the information to deliver these meals, such as: Client Name, Address, Diet, Number of daily meals and Number of Weekend meals. When finished with the route the volunteer returns to the site with the coolers and reports any signs of abuse, non eaten meals or any general comments made by the clients to the site manager. This service does have mileage reimbursement. The volunteers are a vital link between the site manager and the office. This is a most rewarding service for both the client and volunteer.

SENIOR DINING CENTER VOLUNTEER
Is a person that donates his or her time to help at a senior dining site.

The duties include, but are not limited to

  1. Washing the tables before eating
  2. Setting the tables
  3. Serving the food
  4. Clean up of dining area.

Dining sites are located in area senior center, churches and township / village halls. The requirements for this position are

  1. A commitment to the senior population
  2. Outgoing personality
  3. Sense of humor

There are 14 different site locations. As well as serving the nutritious food, you might be asked by the seniors to join them in a card game, or to sit and talk for a minute, or just spend a quiet moment with them. This provides both the client and volunteer with the satisfaction of caring and being cared for, both a valuable asset.
